Akio Warns Job Seekers About WhatsApp and Telegram Job Scam

[JOHANNESBURG, 07 NOVEMBER 2023] – Akio, a renowned digital marketing and technology firm, issues an urgent warning to prospective job seekers and our clients. We have been made aware of an ongoing WhatsApp and Telegram job scam, targeting individuals seeking employment opportunities.

This scam, reported by multiple sources, involves deceitful individuals operating under the alias “Alex Merchant Tasks.” They promise high-paying job opportunities in exchange for simple tasks such as liking and subscribing to YouTube videos or providing star-rating reviews for businesses on Google.

These scammers impersonate representatives of legitimate digital agencies, preying on the aspirations of job seekers.

Akio wants to clarify unequivocally that we do not engage in any recruitment practices involving social media endorsements, video promotions, or activities that may appear dubious or unethical. Our recruitment procedures are firmly rooted in professionalism, transparency, and integrity.

We strongly advise job seekers to remain vigilant and take these precautions to protect themselves from falling victim to such scams:

  1. Verify the Source: Before engaging with any job offer or opportunity, thoroughly investigate the source and validate the authenticity of the company or organization.
  2. Do Not Share Personal Information: Exercise extreme caution when sharing personal or financial information with unknown individuals or organizations. Legitimate employers do not request such information via messaging apps.
  3. Be Skeptical of Unrealistic Promises: If a job offer appears too good to be true or involves unrelated tasks, exercise caution and seek additional information.
  4. Contact Akio: If you are unsure about the legitimacy of a job offer or have concerns about a potential scam, please reach out to our company directly. We are here to provide guidance and support.

Akio places the utmost importance on the security and well-being of our clients and job seekers. We are committed to ensuring a safe and trustworthy job search process for all those we serve. If you have any doubts or questions regarding a job opportunity, please do not hesitate to contact us for assistance.

We encourage our community to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. Together, we can collectively combat scams and safeguard one another from falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
